Our Mission

Our Mission

‘Growing excellence in each other from the roots up’

Explanation: One of the many strengths of our rohe is the environment that surrounds us. We are situated in the heart of Ngatiwai, surrounded by abundant elements of the environment. Nga maunga, te ngahere, nga awa, te moana me te whenua tapu o to tatou tupuna. We believe that excellence is within each of us, and the school is a place where collaboratively, excellence grows. The words each other suggests that learning is a team effort, including; whanau, hapu and iwi. We affirm that learning is an organic process, individualised to the needs of the plants, thus the use of the word ‘growing’. If you could imagine a forest, the plants that occupy the forest are at different stages in the journey of learning. Many of the old strong trees stand as the canopy providing strength, experience and protection to other trees in the forest. Trees that have fallen are not forgotten, they continue to nourish the young saplings with nutrient rich soil. From the roots up suggests the critical need for our children to know who they are and where they come from. The understanding of korero, whakapapa and hitori of a child's identity will provide a stable foundation for the future.
